Improve Your Game
Holdem Range Tool allows you to step up your game. Gain precision with the equity calculator tool.
Pokerstove is easy to use, but it can take time to enter complicated ranges and there is a lot of data it won’t give you. Other equity calculators have a lot of cool features, but can take a while to learn how to use properly. Holdem Range Tool lets you have the best of both worlds in a way that is quick and simple.
Poker players need to make trade offs in how they allocate their time. If you just play and never study or get poker training, then you won’t be a successful player. But if you spend too much time reviewing hands and watching videos, then you will be missing out on potential profit. Holdem Range Tool is designed to help you optimize the time you spend reviewing hands, so you can learn what you need to quickly and then get back to playing. There is no special syntax to learn, or complicated interface that will take you hours to figure out how to use.
Holdem Range Tool provides you with a very simple user interface, but one that allows you to quickly craft very specific hand ranges. Hands are grouped into categories like pairs, suited/unsuited connectors and suited/unsuited gappers.
It is very easy to begin crafting a range by entering a player’s VPIP, and then use the hand grouping to adjust the range to match that specific opponent’s tendencies. For example, if you know the villain has a 15% VPIP but likes to play a lot of suited connectors and tends to dislike lower and middle pairs, you can enter an accurate range very quickly by using the slider bar first, and then using the radio button on the right side of the screen to adjust the range.
Holdem Range Tool has a unique feature that gives you the ability to account for your opponent’s bluffing frequency, my adding a “% air” to the range. For example, suppose you are reviewing a hand where an opponent over-bet shoved. You believe he has a value range of QQ+,AKs but will have air 50% of the time. Holdem Range Tool allows you to add an air range of 50%, which means that half the time the player will be assigned random cards in the Monte Carlo simulation. This feature will allow you to figure out how often an opponent needs to be bluffing to make it worthwhile for you to call.button on the right side of the screen to adjust the range.
Understanding pre-flop and post-flop equities are very important, but understanding how different hands fit different flop textures is important as well.
Some common situations where this feature is useful is when you are holding a pocket pair. If there is one overcard on the flop, how often will your opponent have paired that overcard? If they did, what is your equity in the pot? If there is a two-tone flop, how often will your opponent have a flush draw given their range? If you hold A-6 and an A flops, how often will your opponent have you beat? The scenarios are endless, but this feature makes it easy to study some of more common situations will run into.
There is simply no substitute for getting high quality coaching, whether that consists of watching videos on a training site like Cardrunners or Deucescracked, or hiring a private coach to help you out. This coaching teaches you how to understand what your opponents are doing, and how to accurately define their ranges. But just having a good idea of their range isn’t always enough to figure out what your best decision is. Holdem Range Tool gives you the ability to quickly input very specific hand ranges that account for an opponent’s tendencies and calculate equities. This allows you to make the most of the time and money you have spent on poker training.
Holdem Range Tool is a web-based application. That means you aren’t restricted to running it on only one or two computers like you would be with poker software you are required to download. You also don’t have to mess around with software updates all the time. We just load the update on our server and then all of the users are ready to go. Holdem Range Tool is also compatible with all of the most commonly used browsers including: Firefox, IE, Chrome and Safari. And of course, running Holdem Range Tool on a Mac is no problem.
